Mapping 2.0

We’ve finally decided to put some thought into our mapping interface and here is what we came up with.

Mapping 2.0

  • No more balloon popups. They are standard and ugly. We got rid of them altogether and now property details are shown neatly on the sidebar. Which means you get full details, and the map doesn’t have to move when you click the markers. Awesome stuff.
  • Markers turn yellow when clicked, and the ones you’ve seen go green. That way you don’t have to remember which properties you’ve seen already, or how a traffic light works.
  • Locations matching your query are now suggested on the right. The algorithm that determines which location you actually want has greatly improved. We now choose most popular locations, so even mapping streets works like a charm - we choose the most popular street with that name in the UK. Popularity is measured in imperial units of pubs per square mile, since we’re not aware of an alternative measure at this time.

If you feel this is the best map search you’ve ever seen, than let us know in the comments below. Otherwise don’t.

There’s another awesome feature to be rolled out as soon as we squash a nasty Internet Explorer bug (as usual), so come back here every five minutes, just in case.
